Tuition and Fees

Note: All summer fees are subject to change.

Full payment of all fees is required to complete registration.  Due to shortened timelines in summer, your bill may come after fees are due.  Refer to the Summer Session Calendar for due dates and important deadlines.

Non-resident (out of state) students: All UC undergraduate students pay the same tuition rate in the Summer regardless of their status of out of state, non-residential, or international. There is no difference between CA resident or out of state students. All Visiting Students pay the same tuition rate regardless of their status as well. 

Current UC San Diego Students - Undergraduate and Graduate

  • Application Fee: $0
  • Tuition:
    • Undergraduates - $279 per unit
    • Graduates - $374 per unit
    • The same price is charged regardless of out of state, non-residential, or international student status
  • Campus Based Fees:
    • University Center Fee: $56.88 per session
    • RIMAC Facility Fee: $47.50 per session
    • Canyonview Facility Fee: $11.00 per session
    • Intercollegiate Athletics Fees: $167.05 per session (undergraduates only)
  • Material Fees:
    • Some courses may require material fees, all students enrolled in those courses must pay the material fee. Please refer to the course description on the Schedule of Classes
  • Program Fees:

Incoming First-Year and Transfer Students

Special Note about Campus-Based Fees:

Students registered in all three Summer Sessions (Session 1, Session 2, and Special Session) within the same calendar year will automatically be refunded one set of campus-based fees. Refund will occur after the end of the last summer term. All fees must be paid in advance.  The Office of the Registrar manages this fee reversal process.

  • Since campus-based fees are part of mandatory fees for registration, students will be dropped for non-payment if those fees are not paid.
  • Eligible students will be refunded once Summer is over. This ensures students have not withdrawn for full refund, and that the fees were paid to the university.
