Withdrawing from Summer Session

Withdrawing from Summer Session Process

UC San Diego students who receive financial aid dropping to 0 units in any session, or any student dropping to 0 units from Special Session are required to withdraw from their courses in order to drop to 0 units.

*Note: Your withdrawal is applicable only to the Summer term, not academic year (Fall, Winter, Spring).

Undergraduate students:  This can only be done by completing the online withdrawal form. When a student from the categories above attempts to drop to 0 units (withdraw), they will be given an error message and prompted to fill out the form. Please complete the form in order to withdraw. The form takes 3-5 business days to be processed. The withdrawal is dated with the day the form was submitted. For questions, contact AcademicRecords@ucsd.edu.

Graduate students: Read the Graduate student withdrawal process and contact your Academic Department or Graduate Division.

Withdrawing from Summer Session Deadlines

Students can withdraw from their courses with differing consequences based on deadline dates. You can view these deadline dates on the Summer Session Calendar Page under Drop Classes.

Undergraduate students cannot drop their classes or withdraw after the deadline to drop a class with a W.  Please refer to the Summer Session Calendar Page for specific dates.

Graduate students should read the Graduate student withdrawal process and contact your Academic Department or Graduate Division.
