Other Students - Refunds

If you withdraw from UCSD or drop a course, you may be eligible for a partial or full refund of prepaid fees, depending on the:
  • Effective date of your departure/drop as indicated by your college. (Contact Summer Session.)
  • Absence of other University debts
  • Schedule of refunds

Refunds of 100% of the per unit course fee are given up to the end of the first week of Session I (July 6) & Session II (August 7). Calendar

Your date of withdrawal/drop will be the date that you drop your course or the date on which you file your withdrawal form with the Registrar's Office.  If you claim an earlier date of withdrawal/drop, you must submit a petition with written evidence of your reasons for claiming an earlier date.  This petition must be submitted to your college, or in the case of visiting students, Summer Session.

*Global Seminars and Travel Study Program Fees have their own refund policy.  Consult those programs directly if you are requesting a refund of those fees.

Once fees have been reversed on a student account, that student may request a return those fees. To request a return of paid fees, students must contact Student Business Services. This process take 2-4 weeks. A check will be mailed to the mailing address recorded in the student's record.

The request for a change to your academic record has a one-quarter limit. After fall quarter has passed, no request for a change to your academic record, including adding or dropping a course or change of grading option, will be considered.
